MADISON TOWNSHIP — The era of significant gas station and retail outlets has officially dawned in Richland County.

This week, Sheetz, a major Mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain, opens its first local store located at 1075 Ashland Road.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, Sheetz, will swing open the doors at its initial location in Richland County as the brand continues to expand across Ohio.

“Sheetz’s grand opening is a great addition to Madison Township and all of Richland County,” Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero said. “This investment brings new jobs, new economic activity and an important new business that will serve our residents as well as the tousands of people traveling through our community.

“It’s another sign that Richland County is a great place to invest, and we’re excited to see Sheetz become part of our community.”

Much has been made of the arrival of Buc-ee’s slated for opening in late 2027/early 2028 on the I-71, Ohio 39 off-ramp just inside Mansfield’s border.

To celebrate this opening, Sheetz will be offering customers free self-serve coffee and soda for the entire day on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Sheetz will also be hosting a special grand opening celebration on Thursday, Aug. 27 beginning at 9 a.m. outside the store, where it will be joined by hundreds of residents, representatives from local nonprofits and elected officials.

During the celebration, Sheetz will offer major giveaways to attendees, including free self-serve coffee and soda during the grand opening celebration (9 to 11 a.m.) and the chance to win $250 in Sheetz gift cards and Free Sheetz for a Year.

Later that morning, the store will hold a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:45 a.m.
