Opal Renee Henney, 55, of Galion, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, at her home.
Opal was born in Galion, on February 5, 1971, to the late Thomas and Karen (Clark) Payne.
Opal was a true homebody who found her greatest happiness in the comfort of home and, most importantly, in the company of her family. A hardworking woman throughout her life, there was nothing more important to Opal than her children, who were always at the center of her world.
In her quieter moments, Opal enjoyed watching scary movies and had a lifelong love of music. She loved to dance and never needed much of an excuse to enjoy a good song. Opal was also someone you could sit and talk with for hours. She enjoyed long, meaningful conversations and had a way of turning an ordinary visit into a deep conversation about life, family, and everything in between.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons: Brandon Gregory, and Cory Foust; and her siblings: Diana Scroggins, Richard Foltz, Jr., Theresa (Melissa) Gardner, Thomas Payne, Jr., Tony Payne, Tonya Payne, and Kelly Payne.
A celebration of Opal’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 2:00pm at the Gompf Funeral Service – Galion Chapel, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Celebrant Denise Johnson will officiate.
Memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to aide the family with funeral expenses.
