Mary (Stanic) Russ went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on August 3, 2026. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 2, 1928, to Thomas and Anna Stanic.

She passed away peacefully at home at the age of 98 years and seven months, in Galion, Ohio, surrounded by her beloved family.

She loved her jobs at Fisher Foods and Woolworths, but her life was devoted to her husband and raising five children.

She was an avid gardener who tended to her garden until the age of 96. She loved playing cards and dice games and was always happy when she won (and she usually did win).

Mary Russ was loving, kind, caring and she was a caregiver to many. She was a true example of love and unity, bringing peace and comfort to all.

She always had a yummy home-cooked meal prepared whenever family would get together.

She is survived by her children: Fay Spanos, Jean Mitchell, Neil Russ, and Dean Russ (Linda Zahrndt), as well as grandchildren: Tracy Spanos, Brian McCallie (Dawn), Jason McCallie, Neil Russ Jr. (Amy), Stanic Russ, Jenna Mitchell (John) and Leo Russ. Along with eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was proceeded in death by her father and mother Thomas and Anna Stanic, Stanley George Russ (husband), Joy Karen McCallie (daughter), Edward McCallie (son-in-law), James Mitchell (son-in- law), Justin Mitchell (grandson), Pamela Russ (daughter-in-law) and six beloved siblings.

Mary was a virtuous woman. She will always be remembered for her hard work, diligence, self-control, and loving compassion for all.

Though she has departed from this world, Mary’s spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding us all of the power of love, kindness, and togetherness. Her memory will be cherished forever, and her life celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
