SHELBY — Heritage Christian Counseling of Shelby will celebrate the expansion of its offices with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, at its location at 153 Mansfield Ave.
The faith-based counseling agency recently expanded by combining two buildings, adding four counseling offices and a second lobby to better serve the growing demand for mental health services in the community.
Owned by lifelong Shelby resident Jeaneen Perry, Heritage Christian Counseling provides counseling services for individuals, couples and families, as well as drug and alcohol counseling. The agency serves clients ages 5 through their 90s and offers evening appointments Monday through Friday until 8 p.m.
The practice’s clinical team offers a variety of specialized services, including EMDR therapy for trauma, play therapy for children and adolescents, forensic mental health and child custody evaluations, maternal wellness, substance use counseling and support for people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and other life transitions.
While Heritage Christian Counseling is a faith-based practice, clients decide whether they would like faith incorporated into their counseling sessions.
Perry said the expansion reflects both the agency’s continued growth and its commitment to creating a welcoming environment for clients.
“Our team is committed to providing a warm, non-judgmental, and nurturing environment for individuals, couples, and families to embark on their journey towards wholeness,” Perry said.
Perry’s journey into counseling began when she returned to college at age 28 after her children entered school. After working 15 years in nursing home social work, she earned advanced counseling credentials and helped establish Heritage Christian Counseling’s Shelby office before purchasing the business in February 2024.
She said her goal has always been to help people heal while giving back to the community she has called home throughout her life.
The public is invited to celebrate the expansion during a Re Grand Opening Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, at Heritage Christian Counseling of Shelby, 153 Mansfield Ave., Shelby.
