CRESTLINE – The Crestline Community Development Team (CCDT) is hosting an event with the goal to raise funds for community improvements.

Shake Your Caboose will take place July 25 at The Hub at Village Square, 311 N. Seltzer St. Doors open at 5 p.m. Live entertainment featuring Touch of Grey will kick off at 6 p.m.

“I’m excited to have the event back on a Saturday night with a rocking band,” said Courtney Moody, CCDT member.

The event features free admission, grazing table, raffle baskets, 50/50 raffle, cookie raffle and more. The Hub will have the bar open with drink options available for purchase.

“We’re using the same local small business for the cookies again this year,” Moody said. “Tina, the Junk Drawer Momma, makes beautiful train-themed cookies for the event. You can find her page on Facebook.”

Proceeds from the event help the Crestline Community Development Team fund projects that benefit the town. Previously, CCDT has organized the annual Ralph Thauvette Memorial Summer Concert Series, veteran banners, the welcome signs coming into town, Scary Business Trick or Treat, the upgrade to the playscape at Kelly Park and more.

One of the team’s most recent projects can be found near the Adirondack chair at Scott and Seltzer streets and out at JC Pond. Two new train-themed bike racks have been placed in town. CCDT secured funding through the HEAL GRANT, working with Katie Rafeld, health educator at Crawford County Public Health.

“This was a great team effort and several years in the making. We worked with Pioneer Career and Technology Center students to provide these much-needed bike racks to the town,” said Clayton Herold, CCDT chairman. “With your support at Shake Your Caboose we can do more great projects that benefit the town.”
