David E. Harvey, age 79 of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 19, 1947, in Mansfield, to the late James and Edna Harvey.

David graduated from Lucas High School in 1965, where he was a basketball, football, and track star. Following high school, David’s love for sports continued as he enjoyed softball, bowling, and golf; and he always looked forward to attending the state high school basketball tournaments each year with his best friends. David served his country from 1966 to 1973 in the Ohio Army National Guard, and he was very proud of his service. He also enjoyed high-performance sports cars and fishing. David was a true man of God and was a faithful member of the Mansfield Baptist Temple. Known to be a bit of a perfectionist, David could often be found mowing his lawn or waxing his cars. Above all, David was a family man, he loved spending time with his family and never missed one of his children’s sporting events.

He is survived by his fiancée Sharon Detterman; his daughters Tracy Harvey and Keri (William) Smith; Sharon’s children Robin (Andy) Utz and Jarrod (Brook) Hardin; one brother; three sisters-in-law; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James and Edna Harvey; his wife, Drema Harvey; Drema’s parents Art and Eula Gee, who he thought of as his own; Sharon’s son Brian Hardin; eight brothers; one sister; and six sisters-in-law.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Mansfield Baptist Temple, 752 Stewart Rd. N, Mansfield. Services will take place at 12:00 pm at Mansfield Baptist Temple with Pastor Robert Kurtz officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
