William Clifford Sampsel, age 76, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on May 29, 2026. Born October 9, 1949, in Mansfield, Ohio, William was the son of William Allie and Blanche Lucille (Shambaugh) Sampsel.
He had worked briefly at Mansfield Cemetery and then worked at Mansfield Cement Products, where he retired after 34 years. He enjoyed woodworking, building race cars and watching his sons race. Bowling and golfing were favorite pastimes, and he enjoyed playing his drums.
William was a very strong man, a wonderful father and provider and all-around great man.
He is survived by his children, Chris W. Sampsel, Billie Jean Jordan, Andrew G. (Holly) Sampsel; 11 grandchildren, Austin (Miranda) Toon, Brandie (Nick) Harris, Drew (Kaitlyn) Sampsel, Caleb A. Sampsel, Joel W. Sampsel, Abigail J. Sampsel, Autumn Sampsel, Keeley Gentry, Hailey Gentry, Corey Gentry, and Gavin Baker; son-in-law, Jason Gentry; daughter-in-law, Leslie Sampsel; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Susan Au Heslup; brother, Edward Sampsel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Jean Sampsel on March 7, 2025, his parents; his daughter, Elizabeth Gentry, and sister-in-law, Cindy Sampsel.
There will be no services at this time.
