TIFFIN — Lexington punched its ticket to state again.

The Minutemen won a Division II team title while Lady Lex collected the Division II runner-up trophy at Saturday’s Tiffin regional meet at Hedges-Boyer Park.

“I’m a little stunned,” longtime coach Denise Benson said. “I can’t tell you how proud I am of each and every one of these athletes.”

The Minutemen finished with a team score of 74, just ahead of runner-up Bowling Green (76). Toledo St. Francis (111) and Sylvania Northview (184) earned the other two state-qualifying spots up for grabs.

The top four teams and the top eight individuals not on a qualifying team secured invitations to next week’s state meet at Fortress Obetz.

Will Hooper led the Minutemen, finishing fourth overall in 15 minutes, 37.5 seconds.

“We wanted this bad and we proved that today,” Hooper said. “I’m excited for next week.”

Christian Estep (15:40.6) followed Hooper across the line in fifth place. John Bartone (15:50.5) was 10th, while Mathias Bender (16:12.8) was 16th and Chidalu Ezike (17:00.7) was 42nd.
