Sonja Marie Whitacre, 55, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Avita Health Systems – Galion Hospital. Sonja was born on December 8, 1970, to the late Elden and Helen (Parker) Rohde in West Virginia.

Sonja found joy in life’s simple pleasures and the people she loved most. She was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed both working and sharing meals at Waffle House. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her children and grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever.

She loved starting her day with a good cup of coffee, expressing her creativity through diamond painting, and relaxing while fishing. Sonja also enjoyed playing Pokémon GO and other Nintendo Switch games, often embracing the fun and adventure they brought. She delighted in watching live online eagle nest cameras, following the birds and their young with great interest. Whether she was gathered around a card table playing spades or euchre with family and friends, or watching her favorite Twilight movies, she treasured the moments spent with those she loved.

Sonja’s warm spirit, sense of fun, and love for family will be remembered by all who knew her, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Sonja is survived by her children, Jessica (John) Blackmon, Courtney Jones, and Jeremiah Truman; her grandchildren, Breanne Rohde, Caiden Cockerham, Christine Walter, Eliyus Walter, Izabelle Walter, Ta’Kyra Rohde, Aliva Dykes, Andrew Dykes, Willow Jones, Jayson Jones Jr., Violett Jones, and two additional grandchildren; her niece, Annalee “Duck,” along with several other nieces and nephews; her brother, David Whitacre; her sister, Jennifer “Christy” Whitlock; and her grandmother, Sondra Truman.
