LUCAS — Malabar Farm State Park threw open all of its doors this weekend.
And thousands of residents took advantage of the invitation.
The two-day Ohio Heritage Days event, which began Saturday and wrapped up late Sunday afternoon, celebrated the state’s cultural and agricultural heritage.
There were traditional crafts and demonstrations (like blacksmithing, broom making, quilting, spinning wool and shooting), as well as some modern handmade crafts and antique tractor displays.
The event on the park’s nearly 1,000 acres included living history camps, showcasing periods from the 1700s to World War II. There were horse-drawn wagon rides and pony rides, as well as archaeological displays, educational exhibits highlighting local history and Civil War cannon firing.
Those taking advantage of the free parking and free admission were also offered free self-guided tours of the Big House, the former home of Pulitzer Prize-winning author and sustainable agriculture advocate Louis Bromfield.
There were also free tours of the infamous Ceely Rose House.
The event also had many food vendors, live music and entertainment
