Sen. Mark Romanchuk speaks on the floor of the Ohio Senate.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Senate has passed amended Senate Bill 52, legislation amended to include a provision sponsored by Sen. Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario), to create the Law Enforcement Purple Heart license plate.

“I am honored to recognize those who put their lives on the line to serve and protect our communities,” Romanchuk said.

“This bill is not just about a license plate; it’s about the bravery and sacrifices of our law enforcement. I was proud to advocate for this policy, and I celebrate the passage of this legislation.”

Under this legislation, any individual awarded the Law Enforcement Purple Heart by the National Association of Chiefs of Police may apply for this specialty license plate with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

SB 52, which commemorates this recognition of service and sacrifice, now goes to Gov. Mike DeWine for signature.
