Carol Sue Daugherty, 82, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away at her residence on June 10, 2026. Born on May 15, 1944, in Mansfield, Carol was the daughter of James Wilbur Alexander and Bertha Rose (Plant) Alexander.
Carol worked for many years at Woodlawn Nursing Home, now known as Liberty Nursing Center, before retiring. She was a devoted member of Dean Road Freewill Baptist Church and deeply cherished her husband. A lifelong racing enthusiast, Carol enjoyed attending dirt track races cheering her son on, and she loved camping and traveling to Florida to spend time with family.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Carol took great pride in supporting her grandchildren and rarely missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events. She worked tirelessly to provide for and raise her children, leaving a legacy of love, dedication, and family devotion.
She is survived by her children, James (Lorena) Daugherty, Jr., David (Sandra) Daugherty, Rodney Daugherty, Robert (Edna) Daugherty, Candie (Dan) Daugherty, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Daugherty, and Michael (Nancy) Daugherty; grandchildren, Jamie, Dusty, Derek, Melissa, Brandon, Amber, Marc, Katlin, Justin, Sarah, Christy, Bobby, Faith, Chelsea, Logan, Rodney, Meriah, Shelby, Tiffany, Jake, and Kelli; great-grandchildren, Ivory, Dylan, Layne, Tinley, Gavin, Payton, Braxton, McKenzi, Hudson, Neveah, Johanna, Kallee, Rylin, Max, Sophia, Wrenlee, Bradley, Khiara, Keegan, Kooper, Landan, Gracee, Addy, Lainey, Mason, Ara, Iris, and Kash; sisters, Mary (Thomas) Seckerson, Joann (Ralph) Gaston, and Nancy Alexander (Chuck Messmore), special niece, Deb Varner, and close friend, Doris Setser.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James E. Daugherty, Sr.; granddaughters, Danielle and Anna; siblings, Marilyn (Tom) Shanklin, Fredrick Alexander, Melvin Alexander, Betty (Harold) Hinklin, James Alexander Jr., and Ruth Alexander.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday June 16, 2026, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield, OH 44902. Additional visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday June 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM, with the funeral at 11:00 AM, Pastor Earl Tackett will officiate. Burial will be held at Mansfield Cemetery.
