MOHICAN TOWNSHIP – A North Ridgeville woman was killed after a two-vehicle crash Friday in Mohican Township, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Jeanette E. Vibbert, 66, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital and pronounced deceased shortly afterward, the Patrol stated.
The crash occurred at 11:24 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 30 and State Route 89 within Mohican Township of Ashland County.
The Patrol reported that Vibbert was operating a 2006 tan Hyundai Elantra sedan south on State Route 89 and was attempting to go west onto U.S. 30 when she failed to yield from a stop sign at the intersection.
Jason C. Hazen, 45, of Jeromesville, was operating a 2016 gray Jeep Cherokee SUV. Hazen was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 and struck Vibbert’s vehicle on the passenger side.
Both vehicles then traveled off the south side of U.S. 30 into the grass median. There was no report of an injury to Hazen.
The Patrol stated both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Jeromesville Fire & EMS, Hayesville Fire & EMS, and Gearhart’s Towing.
