MANSFIELD — The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment celebrated student achievement and two years of serving the community Oct. 3, combining its monthly karate promotion with an anniversary celebration.
Nineteen students participated in the test, led by Sensei Reneta Music and Grandmaster Gary Music. Seven students earned new belts:
- Bradley Kelbley — orange belt
- Mallorie Clark — orange belt
- Aleyah Sylvester — orange belt
- Evelyn Vonstine — blue belt
- Penelope Potts — purple belt
- Jonah Thompson — yellow belt
- Elianna Ettel — yellow belt
Many other students received stripes recognizing their attendance and progress toward their next belt.
Sensei Music praised the students for their dedication and growth.
“You all have worked so hard and improved your behavior, stances and posture,” she told the class. “I’m so proud of all of you.”
Grandmaster Music also recognized their progress.
“You all have really made big improvements in your stances and listening skills,” he said. “Good job.”

M.A.K.E. recognized Elianna Ettel as Student of the Month for her strong discipline, leadership skills and perseverance. Along with earning her yellow belt, the youngster demonstrated the character and dedication the academy strives to develop in every student.
Following the promotion, the celebration continued with a raffle drawing for M.A.K.E. merchandise, cookies, pizza and games. Students had an opportunity to spend time together outside the structured class setting, strengthening friendships and enjoying the community they help create at the dojo.
The anniversary marked two years of M.A.K.E.’s work to empower individuals through traditional karate, self-protection and strength training. Through these programs, the academy helps students build confidence, discipline and resilience while supporting a stronger, more connected community.
