Virgil Snavely, age 69, a 1975 graduate and lifelong resident of Lexington, Ohio, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 28, 2026, following a courageous eight-year battle with multiple myeloma.

Virgil was the son of the late Larry and Joyce (Donelson) Snavely. He found his calling early on as a crane operator at Shelly Smith and Sons and later ran his own business, Preferred Crane Service. He truly loved his work. He was a wonderful man of outstanding character and unwavering integrity. Smart, quick-witted, and always one step ahead of the game, Virgil had a brilliant mind and a legendary sense of humor. He was a natural jokester who loved to bring laughter to those around him, and his presence could instantly light up a room.

An avid outdoorsman, Virgil found great peace and joy in fishing, hunting, and camping. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family, frequently organizing special adventures to create lasting memories for his grandkids. He also loved spending his winters in Florida, riding his golf cart around town. Although he did not enjoy thrifting with his wife, confessing that the shops gave him the “heebee-jeebees”, he tagged along anyway, going wherever she wanted to go. That was simply who Virgil was: a man ready to lead, willing to follow, and always there the exact moment you needed him. He was the rock, the glue, and the steady foundation of his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Teresa, the love of his life. His legacy of strength and love lives on through his daughter, Amy, and her husband, Mike Morgan, and his adored grandchildren, Riley (Cheyenne) Morgan and Lauren Morgan. He is also survived by his niece, Crystal, and her husband, Jake Eyerly, whom he loved like a second daughter, and their children, Lexi, Anderson, and Addie, who also lovingly knew him as their Poppy. He is also survived by a brother, Randy Snavely, and a special sister-in-law, Laura (Don) Rogers.

Virgil’s unwavering faith, gentle spirit, and love for his family will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by those who remain. Virgil was truly one of a kind; a rare soul whose love for his family knew no bounds. As a husband, he was a devoted partner who spent five decades proving that true love is an action, showing up every single day with selflessness and a smile. As a father and a Poppy, he was a protector, a teacher, a constant source of laughter, and the ultimate safe harbor. He filled our lives with magical adventures, steady wisdom, and a love so big it will echo through our generations forever. The void he leaves behind is immeasurable. Our hearts are broken, and we will miss his wit, his warmth, and his physical presence every single day. We love you completely, Virgil. Rest easy, our sweet Poppy, until we are gathered in your arms once again.

The family would like to thank the Hematology/Oncology office of Dr. Yvonne Efebera for its exceptional care of Virgil. Dr. Efebera and Becky Tokarski, PA, were instrumental in Virgil’s longevity. The family would also like to thank the many nurses at The Bing, Riverside Hospital’s 6th floor, The James, and Mansfield Oncology. He received excellent care, and for that we are grateful.
