Denney R. Sutherland, 83 of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026, at home following a brief illness.
He was born April 29, 1943, in McClure, Virginia, to the late Dewey R. and Helen (Counts) Sutherland.
Denney was a Madison High School graduate. He went on to serve his country for four years as a photographer in the United States Air Force. After his discharge he worked at General Motors, retiring after 27 ½ years.
He married Suevondia Gilliam May 5, 1973. They recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
Denney is survived by his wife, Suevondia Sutherland; daughter, Stacey Sutherland; two grandchildren, Alexus and Cassie Baker; two brothers, Bobbie Sutherland and Roger (Becky) Sutherland, all of Mansfield; and sister, Linda (Carl) Kurek, of Sarasota, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Helen Sutherland; and daughter, Kimberly Baker.
The family would like to give a very special thank you to Dwayne Livesay for helping with Denney’s care.
They also wish to thank the wonderful staff of Hospice of Ohio for their outstanding care for Denney in his final days.
Family and friends will gather for visitation Friday, May29, 2026 at 10:00 AM at 98 South Diamond Street, Mansfield. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Denney will be laid to rest at Mansfield Cemetery.
