Sheralynn Kay Laug, known to all as “Sherry,” of Mansfield, Ohio, left this world surrounded by the love of her children on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 80.
Sherry was born on April 16, 1946, in Mansfield to the late Merrill and Julianna (Wilhelm) Hambly.
Sherry dedicated herself to more than four decades of work in the retail and service industries, but her greatest joy in life was always her family. In 1971, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Laug, and together they shared an extraordinary 44-year bond built on deep love, loyalty, and unwavering partnership. Their life together, centered on family, compassion, and commitment, will continue to inspire all who knew them.
A dedicated wife and caregiver, Sherry devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, raising two children, Shannon DeMoss of Mansfield and Christina (William) Kemp of Columbus, and later cherishing the joy of her five grandchildren: Shanden, Haydn, Jenise, Keira, and Nicole, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. A loving mother and grandmother, Sherry always put the needs of others before her own, offering endless love, comfort, and support.
Having played many cherished roles throughout her life—daughter, sister, wife, mom, Gam, Grams, grandma, and friend—Sherry will be deeply missed. And although it is painful to imagine life without her, those who knew Sherry cannot help but smile through their tears when remembering her curled up with a mystery novel, doting on her beloved cats, or making her well-loved pineapple marshmallow dessert.
Sherry is survived by her sister Linda Hambly and niece Ashley Hambly, and was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Robert Laug; her grandson, Haydn Laug; and her brother, Mark Hambly.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in Sherry’s honor on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11 a.m. in Saint Peter Catholic Church, 60 S. Mulberry St., Mansfield, Ohio 44903. Burial to follow in Little Washington Cemetery.
