SHELBY — The Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development has hired Jeff Parton as economic and community development director for the city of Shelby, effective June 1.

Parton brings more than 25 years of experience in banking, business development and community leadership. He most recently served as a business development officer with Park National Bank, where he developed a reputation for building relationships and connecting community partners.

In his new role, Parton will lead economic and community development efforts in Shelby.

He will work with the Shelby Community Improvement Corporation, local businesses, elected officials and regional partners to advance priorities such as downtown revitalization, housing development, business retention and expansion, and redevelopment projects.

“Jeff is exactly the kind of leader Shelby needs right now,” said Jessica Gribben, president and CEO of the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development. “He understands how to build relationships, earn trust and turn conversations into action.”

Parton said he is eager to begin the role and support the city’s ongoing progress.

“I’ve always believed that strong communities are built through relationships,” he said. “Shelby has strong leadership and momentum, and I’m honored to be part of what comes next.”

Chamber officials said the position reflects a continued commitment to investing in Shelby’s future. Recent efforts in downtown redevelopment, housing investment and long-term planning have positioned the city for continued growth.

The Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development is a dual-purpose organization focused on economic growth and community development across Richland County. It works with local governments, businesses and regional partners to support job creation, investment and quality-of-life initiatives.
