He was born in Mansfield, Ohio on September 10, 1928 to William L and Katherine (Linser) McBride.
Bill grew up in Mansfield and graduated with the 1946 Mansfield Senior High School class that was known as the “Century Seniors”, the 100th graduating class in Mansfield. That fall he joined the US Marine Corps and proudly served for five years.
In 1955 he graduated from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University), in Cleveland with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. After college he went to work for North Electric in Galion, Ohio. They eventually sent the McBride family to Italy to work on a Nato Project for two years. Later he spent five years with AMF in Shelby, and left when the engineering department moved to Connecticut. After working as a field engineer with connector companies AMP and Molex, he started McBride Engineering, a manufacturers rep firm, and operated it for 15 years before retirement.
