Judy Ann Reece, 86, of Galion, went to be with Jesus on Monday, February 16, 2026, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She was born on March 27, 1939, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to the late Eldon and Ruth (Miller) Downing.

Judy attended Bucyrus Schools and from there worked at North Electric where she met the love of her life Ned Reece. On February 21, 1959, they were married and shared 66 beautiful years together until his passing on June 8, 2025.

Judy had a tender heart toward children and enjoyed nurturing their faith and creativity. She served faithfully as a Girl Scout leader for six years, delighting in guiding young girls and creating lasting memories – particularly during craft sessions at Lonestar Girl Scout Camp and summer programs at the YMCA.

A gifted storyteller, Judy had a special talent for bringing Bible lessons to life. She could weave Scripture into captivating, easy-to-understand stories that captured young hearts and planted seeds of faith. She greatly enjoyed teaching Sunday School, where her enthusiasm for Jesus shone brightly, and her lessons were both biblical and unforgettable.

Judy proudly owned and operated Harvest House, a Christian book and gift store, alongside her beloved husband. Through their work she found great joy in sharing her faith and spreading the message of Jesus.

Creativity was one of Judy’s greatest joys. She treasured the time spent crafting alongside her mother, making handmade items for her store, and setting up at craft shows. The two shared a love for discovering hidden treasures, often searching for unique antiques to refurbish and resell, a hobby she later embraced with her husband. Through her creativity, faith and warm spirit, she left a lasting impressing on all who knew her especially those who visited her annual garage sales.

Judy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1971. Out of her obedience to Scripture, she was baptized in a pond near Pulaskiville Community Church, where she and her husband faithfully worshiped and served for many years.

Judy loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her daughter Sheryl, who was also her best friend. Though she will be greatly missed, we look forward to our reunion with her one day.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sheryl (Larry) Saunders; her grandchildren, Jason Saunders, Lorie (Jason) Deschu, Candi (Billy) Bowlin, and Hope (Josh) Kocher; her great-grandchildren, Billy Bowlin, Brad Bowlin, Gus Deschu, Silas Deschu, Ruth Kocher, Jack Kocher, Leah Kocher, Levi Kocher, and Paul Kocher; her siblings, Robert Downing, Ed (Carmen) Culbertson, and Glen Culbertson Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Joan Columbus.

Judy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ned, and her parents.

Friends may call on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Galion Alliance Church, 430 Portland Way N., Galion. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Josh Kocher. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery immediately following the service.
