MANSFIELD — City Council on Tuesday will discuss a $2.7 million plan to repave about 5.7 miles of Ohio 13 within the city of Mansfield.
The project will resurface Ohio 13 from Timmerman Road to Diamond Street and also Diamond Street from Main Street to Fifth Street.
The work, scheduled to begin in August and take about four months to complete, will be done in conjunction the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The state will pay an estimated $1,252,000 of the project’s cost. The city will pay about $1,448,000 using street resurfacing funds, sewer funds and water funds.
Local lawmakers in June 2025 approved a Local Public Agency with ODOT. That delegated the authority to the city manage, design, or construct the projects. It ensures local projects meet state/federal standards.
The city’s engineering office designed the project and lawmakers are being asked to allow bids for the work to be sought.
Traffic will be maintained in both directions during the project using flagged traffic control.
According to legislation, council will discuss it during a streets committee meeting Tuesday. It’s scheduled for a vote on March 3, though lawmakers could move it up Tuesday.
Council is also scheduled Tuesday to:
— vote on a proposal to spend $1,156.048 for a new Piecer Impel Pumper Fire Truck for the Mansfield Fire Department. Lawmakers gave the plan a first read at its Feb. 3 meeting.
— vote on a request to vacate and rename a portion of Stocking Alley, between Charles Street and Louis Street, to Marieliz Court. The request was made by Connecting Kids Inside Out, 328 Charles St.
— discuss during caucus seeking bids for water repair parts for the water repair department, including pipes, fittings, couplings, clamps, etc.
There are two committee meetings scheduled Tuesday. The streets committee meets at 6:35 p.m. and claims committee at 6:45. Council caucus is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., followed immediately by the legislative session.
Council meetings are on the third floor of the Municipal Building, 30 N. Diamond St., in Council Chambers. Those wishing to attend can park in the upper lot off of Park Avenue or the lower employee lot and enter through the first-floor police entrance.
Meetings are also streamed live here.
