John William Losch, age 84, of Lexington, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026 in Magnolia Terrace Assisted Living in Galion with his loving family by his side. John was born on June 30, 1941 in Portland, Indiana to Earl Edwin Losch and Beatrice Belle (Hawley) Losch. He was raised in Portland and graduated from Madison Township High School in 1959 and Taylor University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and then a Master of Science in Education from Ball State University in 1972.

He married the love of his life, Marilyn Gay (Dillon) Losch, on June 21, 1963 in Eaton, Indiana at the First Church of God. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together.

He started his career with Wapokoneta Senior High School teaching biology, followed by teaching special education at Lima City Schools. He then took his scientific background and became a professional sales representative for Pfizer Laboratories. After taking early retirement from Pfizer he returned to teaching for Ohio Department of Youth Services and then wrapped up his teaching career at Licking Valley High School teaching 9th grade science.

John was an avid photographer throughout his life. He enjoyed being in the church and listening to Marilyn play the organ and piano. He participated in both the Bill Glass crusades and Promise Keepers. He thoroughly enjoyed attending high school sporting events and cheering on the team. He loved his family and enjoyed taking family trips to Florida and North Carolina.

John will be fondly remembered by his three children, Roy (Deb) Losch of Anderson, Indiana, Gaylene (Jason) Hayden of Lafayette, Indiana and Jaena (Tony) Newman of Lexington, Ohio; his seven grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan (Bea) & Emma Losch, Miriam & Ezra Hayden, Olivia & Carter Newman; his great-grandchild, Emilia Losch. He also leaves behind a brother, Bob (Carolyn) Losch of Jenison, Michigan, several nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, John was preceded by his loving wife, Marilyn on March 13, 2022.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 19, 2026 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where his funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Pastor Paul O’Brien will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
