John Frances Depinet, 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Magnolia Terrace. He was born on March 18, 1932, in Kansas, Ohio, to the late Gabriel and Lucinda (Rinehart) Depinet.
John graduated from Calvert High School in Tiffin in 1950. He then went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, John worked at ITT for 14 years before becoming the owner of Depinco Electronics in Galion, a business he successfully operated for 21 years.
He married the love of his life, Yvonne (Gerber) Depinet, on May 25, 1957. Together, they shared 68 wonderful years of love, partnership, and devotion.
John was deeply committed to his community and faith. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, organizations through which he gave back to both church and country. During his time at ITT, he was actively involved in the Junior Achievement program, generously sharing his knowledge and mentoring young people. In his personal life, John had a love for photography and could often be found capturing meaningful moments through his camera, preserving memories for family and friends to cherish.
Left to cherish John’s memory are his wife, Yvonne; his children, Donna (Ric) Dasher of Spring Hill, FL, Tom (Krista) Depinet of Mt. Gilead, Steve Depinet of Flagstaff, AZ, Andrew Depinet of Galion, David (Debbie) Depinet of Sugar Land, TX, and Rod (Susan) Depinet of Glen St. Mary, FL; his grandchildren, John (Kristina) Depinet, Cristina (Paul) Baze, Corrine Dasher, Michael (Caitlin) Depinet, Jennifer Depinet, Alexx (Dustin) Brown, Zach (Stephanie) Depinet, Ryan Dasher, Morgan (David) Hartfil, Matthew (Allison) Depinet, and Cassandra Depinet; his great-grandchildren, Elaine Baze, Stella Baze, Lilly Pyle, Grayson Lewis, Bryson Lewis, Jaylan Lewis, Sonny Depinet, Kylon Koge, Zayven Bellamy, Elliott Hartfil, and Aria Brown; his siblings, Gerri (Norm) Lucius of New Washington, Marge Karl of Shelby, Vi (Tom) Wasserman of Helena, OH, and Ralph (Deana) Depinet of Bascom, OH; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Depinet, Betty Depinet, and Connie Depinet.
John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Robert Depinet, Leo Depinet, Joseph Depinet, Gerald Depinet, James Depinet, Raymond Depinet, and Mary Montera.
Friends may call on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 pm, at Gompf Funeral Service – Galion Chapel, 303 Portland Way N. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 11:00 am at St Joseph Catholic Church, 135 N. Liberty St, Galion, with Father Paul Fahrbach officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery, where full Military Honors will be rendered.
