Willard finally found a way to top Shelby 53-50 in an Ohio boys basketball matchup on Jan. 10.

The Whippets moved ahead by earning a 31-28 advantage over the Crimson Flashes at the end of the second quarter.

Willard broke in front at the beginning of the fourth quarter with a 48-37 lead over Shelby.

The Whippets rallied with a 13-5 advantage in the fourth quarter. However, the Crimson Flashes prevailed.

Last season, Shelby and Willard faced off on Dec. 14, 2024 at Shelby High School.

In recent action on Jan. 3, Willard faced off against Tiffin Columbian and Shelby took on Lexington on Jan. 3 at Lexington High School.
