James Ronald Rogers, 81 of Ashland passed away at his home on Thursday, January 8, 2026, with his family surrounding him.
He was born on September 14, 1944 the son of the late Ogie Mae (nee Britton) and Merle Rogers. Jim lived most of his life in Ashland, Ohio. His siblings are Linda (Al) Leverett and Alan Dean Rogers, both of Florida.
In 1983, he married Reta I. Snader Wingrove, who survives.
Jim is also survived by his children including: Tammy Barker, Denise (Scott) Bloeman, Jamie (Elaine) Rogers, and Jason Wingrove; his grandchildren, the late Christy Barker, Brandon Barker, Jen Barker, Shelby Bloeman, Shawn (Kat) Rogers, and twins, Brody and Brayden Wingrove; his great granddaughter, Serenity Petry; and his great-great grandson, Waylon Anderson Anders, born last year in 2025.
Jim also leaves behind two great sisters-in-law, Dixie Hackworth and Jeri (Doug) Clever; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a proud volunteer fireman for the Ashland Fire Department for more than 20 years. Jim was one of the original builders of the Ashland Fire Cabin, which was later donated to the Ashland County Parks Department.
He was a welder by trade; and spent most of his career working for HYCO, now the Dana Corporation. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed working on cars, which was one of his loves in his life. He was proud of restoring a 1977 Corvette, especially because he never worked on fiberglass vehicles before. He also loved motorcycles and enjoyed taking rides throughout the state with his wife, Reta. Jim’s real love, however, was his family, who he loved very much. Much joy was given to him by his pet dogs, Gibbs and Tiger, except when they licked between his toes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Norm Johnson presiding.
