Eva J. “Jeanie” Schluter, born December 18, 1934, to Molly Howell (Mott) and Frank Dorner, passed away Monday January 5, 2026, at Primrose Retirement Community. She lived a vibrant life filled with family, travel, and joy.
On July 26, 1952, Jeanie married the love of her life, Charles E. Schluter, beginning a beautiful partnership that blessed them with three children: Terry Lee Schluter, Tracy (Gary) Royse, and Charles “Chuckie” E. Schluter II.
Family was the cornerstone of Jeanie’s life. She treasured her time at home with her loved ones, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Her culinary talents were legendary—she crafted the most delicious pies for every holiday gathering and could recreate any restaurant dish after just one tasting. Her raspberry patch provided the key ingredient for her famous crepe suzettes, which delighted family and friends alike.
Jeanie’s zest for life extended beyond her kitchen. She was known for her love of sports cars, driving everything from her Mitsubishi GT 3000 (affectionately called “The Batmobile”) to her Mustang, Crossfire, and most recently, her prized Triple Black Twin Turbo Pontiac Solstice. Her passion for fashion led her to open a dress shop called “Feathers” with her friend Birdie Lape, and she remained an avid shopper with impeccable taste throughout her life. She was also a dedicated member of the Women’s Club of Mansfield.
Jeanie was very fond of movies from a young age when she often visited the theater with her aunt, a tradition that she carried on with her grandchildren. Until her passing, she was still a movie buff and enjoyed watching Turner Classic Movies daily. Jeanie also had an affection for traveling which took her to many places and five continents including North American, South America, Africa, Europe, and Australia.
Jeanie is survived by her daughters, Terry Lee Schluter and Tracy (Gary) Royse; her sisters, Barbara Sharp and Christine Spearman; her grandchildren, Chris Pore, Clark (Brandy) Pore, Tyler (Bowen) Sowers, Jacqueline (Tim) Plowman, Whitney (Kelsey) Schluter, and Nicholas Schluter; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces who will carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Molly and Frank; her beloved husband, Charles; her son, Charles “Chuckie” Schluter II; and her brother, John Mott.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road immediately followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will take place in Mansfield Memorial Park.
