Bhanumati Das, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday January 4, 2026.

Bhanumati was born September 29, 1941, in Mumbai, India. She was the daughter of Kanaiyalal and Shantaben Shah. She was a fun-loving spirit and spent her early years crafting with her sisters and studying Mathematics and Statistics at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel School and Ruia College obtaining her first Master’s. She later pursued her second Master’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Akron.

She met her husband in Mumbai, India and they married in 1965 and began their family in the United States, forging the way for other family members to follow and helping to support them as they made their way in America. She loved to cook, garden, sew and craft.

She often watched CNBC and studied the financial markets. Her most remarkable trait was making everyone around her at ease and finding ways to enjoy and have fun in life, including travel around the world exploring new places.

She is survived by her children, Saurabh (Suzanne) Das and Mamata (Bhaumik) Hotha; grandchildren, Jaya Das, Priya Das, Nikhil Hotha, and Avani Hotha; her siblings, Manju Shah, and Meena (Alok) Divan; and many cherished family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Balbhadra Das; her brother, Dr. Haresh Shah; her sister, Usha Shroff (Ramanlal); and her parents.

A private Pooja service will be observed by the family on January 12, 2026.
