Mary Ann Tate, 90, of Galion, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Mary Ann was born on April 1, 1935, in Piqua, OH, to the late Charles and Dorothy (Von DerHyde) Haney.

Mary Ann was a woman of deep faith whose life reflected her love for the Lord in all that she did. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, finding her greatest joy in being a homemaker and an exceptional mother. Her home was a place of warmth, care, and unwavering love, where family always came first.

She cherished time spent with those she loved-whether gathered together at home, traveling to new places, or sharing simple moments that became lasting memories. She delighted in shopping, thoughtfully choosing gifts that reflected her generosity and attention to others, and she found happiness in giving more than receiving.

Beyond her devotion to family, Mary Ann was a gifted writer and poet. Through her published works, Poems & Reflections and A New Journey, she shared her faith, wisdom, and heartfelt observations with grace and sincerity. Her words continue to inspire, comfort, and encourage those who read them.

Mary Ann will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her strong faith, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the words she wrote, and the example she set of a life lived in service, love, and devotion to God.

Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory are her children; Mitchell (Sandy) Petty, Doug (Tracy) Tate, DeAnne (Jeremy) Taichlet and David Tate; her grandchildren, Jessica (Jamie) Wages, James (Amber) Petty, Dr. Shanel (Daniel) Thompson, Catrina (David) Carrol, Michael Mullin and Mark Mullin; as well as her great-grandchildren, James Wages III, Genevieve Thompson, Charles Thompson, Grayson Petty, Emerson Petty and Quinten Carroll and her niece, Dorothy Winters.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her daughters, Michele Petty and Margaret Ann Mullin, and her siblings, Robert Haney, Richard Haney, Virginia Spade, Jeannie White and Bill Vale.

Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Fletcher Cemetery on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 3:00pm.
