MANSFIELD — Two new Mansfield City Council members will get a chance Tuesday to just dip their toes into legislative waters during the first session of 2026.

Just four bills are on the agenda for council’s consideration during an evening when not even a single committee meeting is scheduled.

It will be the first meeting for 1st Ward Councilman Mike Miranda and 3rd Ward Councilwoman Crystal Davis Weese, both of whom were sworn in over the holidays after winning the seats in November.

At-large Councilwoman Shari Robertson, who retained her seat in November, was also sworn in over the Christmas break.

5th Ward Councilman Aurelio Diaz, the only Independent on council, will take the oath for his second term on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.

The oath will be administered by Republican Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero and Richland County Common Pleas Court Judge Phillip Naumoff, a Democrat.

Once lawmakers settle into their seats, they are scheduled to discuss and vote on these four bills:

— authorizing acceptance of a $300 donation from the Appleseed Valley Veterinary Hospital to purchase “Puppy Life Saver” oxygen masks for the Mansfield Fire Department.

— authorizing the city to enter into a five-year contract with Ring Central to provide cloud-based phone service, replacing Mitel as the provider. The cost will be $9,039.60 per month for a total contract not to exceed $542,376.

— authorizing the acceptance of a $31,555 grant from the Ohio Crime Victims Assistance Office. The funds will be administered by the Law Director’s office during 2026. The grant requires a $7,128 local match.

— authorizing the city’s submission of an amended annual action plan for HOME-ARP funding, indicating proposed uses for the city’s 2021 HOME Investment Partnership Program Funds.
