Victor Irwin Haring, age 85, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully with his family present, Monday, December 22, 2025.

The son of Philip Ralph and Beatrice (Schuler) Haring, Victor was born October 22, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1958 he graduated from Moorestown High School in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Patriotic and deeply proud of his service in the Navy, Victor served from 1959-1973. His Navy career spanned two eras. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and later during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 12, 1973. Victor was an active member of the AMVETS Post #26, VFW Post #9943, and the Sons of Herman. He truly loved people and never met a stranger. His warmth and friendliness left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

He was past chief of the Mifflin Township Fire Department. A retired truck driver, Victor worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Ore Freighters. He was aboard the SS Champlain when it passed the Edmund Fitzgerald just hours prior to its sinking. Victor personally heard the distress call over his radio.

He loved the open road and cruising on his motorcycle. He enjoyed riding as recently as just a few months ago. The man could dance. It was his gift. He was relaxed and lighthearted, willing to dance with anyone who’d take his hand…..and he rarely had any difficulty finding a dancing partner.

Baptized and saved by God’s grace, Victor was a man of strong conviction and deep spiritual faith. He was so loving and proud of his grandkids.

He is survived by his four children, Troy (Kimberly) Haring, Jill Haring, John Haring, and Shawn (Theresa) Haring; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Fran Daughton, Sherri Thompson, and Patrice “Pat” Parrish; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Philip Ralph Haring, Jr.

Victor’s family will receive friends Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 3-7pm in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Homes where his funeral will be Wednesday at 11am. Military honors will be performed on the funeral home grounds following funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses. Please make checks payable to Snyder Funeral Homes.
