MANSFIELD – The Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center will host its second High School Mentorship Program Kickoff Event on Jan. 12 at its office building.

Due to the highly successful launch of the inaugural SLP Mentorship Program, which began with a kickoff event in January 2025, the Mid-Ohio ESC High School Mentorship Program is expanding for the 2026 Cohort to include a new career pathway in School Psychology.

As a result, high school students can now explore mentorship opportunities in both Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and School Psychology.

The Mid-Ohio SLP/SP Mentorship Team, comprised of SLP/SP Mentorship Coordinator Kevin Fourman; Central Ohio School Psychology Consultant Kylie Dennison-Rebon; Mid-Ohio ESC School Psychology Lead Julia Pilla; and Central Ohio SLP Consultant Johanna Gilland, developed the SLP/SP Mentorship Program.

As part of the mentorship program, mentees in the 2026 Cohort will shadow experienced professionals (SLPs or School Psychologists) and gain exposure to their day-to-day roles.

In addition, they will be connected with local higher education institutions to understand the academic pathway from high school through graduate school, including a tour of a collegiate program.

Throughout the course of the program, students will explore communication disorders, intervention strategies and clinical practice while investigating student mental health, academic support, behavioral interventions and assessment.

High school students interested in participating in the 2026 Mid-Ohio ESC High School Mentorship Program can apply by contacting SLP/SP Mentorship Coordinator Kevin Fourman at fourman.kevin@moesc.net by Jan. 5, 2026.
