CRESTLINE — The Crestline Police Department encountered two dead bodies during a welfare check Wednesday morning.

According to a statement from Police Chief Jason Kitzmiller, officers responded to 722 North Henry Street at around 10 a.m. after receiving a call for a welfare check.

Details are sketchy as of Wednesday at 5 p.m., but after attempts to contact individuals inside the house were unsuccessful, officers entered the house and found “two victims” deceased on the premises.

Kitzmiller said there is no active threat to the community.

“The investigation is ongoing and further information will be provided at a later date,” Kitzmiller said in a statement.

“We kindly ask that the public allow law enforcement to conduct a full and thorough investigation.”

Kitzmiller asked anyone with information on the incident to contact the Crestline Police Department or Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
