Susan Louise Pollock, age 77, longtime Shelby resident, died Saturday morning, November 15, 2025 at JAG Healthcare Mansfield following an extended illness.

Susan was born December 24, 1947 in Shelby, Ohio to the late Willard and Mary Jane (Roberts) Pollock. A lifelong Shelby resident until her illness, Susan graduated from Shelby High School in 1966.

Susan was a woman whose life was stitched together with love, generosity, and devotion to the people around her. A gifted quilter, she poured her heart into every piece she created. Over the years, she made over one thousand quilts for family, friends, and Shelby Helpline Ministries – each one a warm reminder of her kindness and her desire to comfort others. Susan was a member of the First United Methodist Church. For many years, Susan operated an in-home daycare, where she nurtured and cared for countless children in a safe, loving home. She also loved Elvis and any song he sang or film he performed in. She knew his songs by heart and never tired of listening to them. Susan was also a member of the Shelby American Legion.

Susan is survived by her son-in-law; Jesse Sprankle of Bowling Green, KY; granddaughter: Brittany (Triston) Miller of Cadiz, KY; brother: Willard Pollock Jr. of Shelby; sister: Paulette Sponseller of Mansfield; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her son: Jeffry Pollock in 1993; daughter: Jennifer Sprankle in 2013; and sisters: Linda Hicks and Marlise Summers.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 11-1 pm at the Penwell Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Graveside services and burial will immediately follow at Oakland Cemetery, Shelby. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to Shelby Athletic Boosters.
