SHELBY — Plans are underway for the traditional Shelby Community Thanksgiving Day dinner by the Shelby First Lutheran Church, 33 Broadway St.
But organizers are seeking assistance in some areas.
According to Gaye Shira, project coordinator, volunteer cooks are needed that day beginning at 8 a.m. to help prepare the meal. In addition, she is asking for volunteer servers to be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. that day.
Cleanup help is also needed beginning at 1:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
In addition, Mrs. Shira said four or five more turkey donations and 10 to 12 pie donations are needed to round out the menu. Any monetary donations are also welcome to help cover other necessary items.
To volunteer or to make food or other donations, folks may call the church office at 419-347-7675.
The traditional community event serves several hundred people annually in the church social hall and through carry-out meals. More details and exact times for this free Shelby community celebration will be announced shortly.
