SHELBY — Shelby Help Line Ministries is asking the community to help it bless other city residents this Christmas.
Shelby Help Line’s food drive is now accepting donations through Nov. 30. Items may be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at 39 Walnut St. All items must be unopened.
Perishable, frozen and/or expired items will not be accepted, as well as items packaged in glass. Through this program, each family will receive two to four boxes of food, along with a meat voucher.
Jolene Arms, executive director of Shelby Help Line Ministries, said monetary donations will also be accepted and can be made through Shelby Help Line’s website, Venmo or checks mailed or dropped off to the front desk at its 39 Walnut St. office.
Arms said the program is preparing to help a total of 156 households and counting.
Below are lists of acceptable items, broken down by category:
Canned goods: Soup, vegetables, fruits, meats, stews, beans, peanut butter, jelly and spaghetti or meat sauce.
Unopened boxed/packaged goods: Noodles, rice, crackers, cereal, oatmeal, pancake or muffin mix, potatoes, stuffing, broth, gravy, jello, pudding desserts, snacks, condiments, tea, coffee and juice.
Personal items: Dish soap, laundry soap, dryer sheets, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, shampoo, conditioner, body wash or bar soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
