Wanda Ellen Dowell, 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Sharps Chapel, TN, to the late William Collins and Laura Russell Collins Roweltt on July 17, 1939. Wanda married Bobby Dowell on April 23, 1955, and they spent 65 years together before his passing.

Wanda proudly worked as a state childcare provider, where she demonstrated her unwavering commitment to the well-being of children and families. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her career; she was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her children and grandchildren. Wanda’s family was the center of her world, and she found immense joy in sharing her love through cooking, often bringing everyone together around the table. She would never allow anyone to leave hungry.

Left to cherish Wanda’s memory are her children: Sharon (Bob) Williams of Galion, Deb (Bill) Vaughn of New Washington, Verlon (Tammy) Dowell of Galion, Eric (Vickie) Dowell of Ham Lake, MN, Randall (Terri) Dowell of Galion, Greg (Vini) Dowell of Bucyrus, and Sabra (Sabrina) Thomas of Galion; her sibling, Thomas “Arnold” Nichols of Burns, TN; sisters-in-law, Betty Adams, and Pauline Dowell; as well as 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Along with her parents and Bobby, Wanda is preceded in death by her brothers, Levi, Charles, Alvin, David, Emer, Milton, James “Audy”, William R., Floyd, William H., and Amos “Hank”.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm. Pastor Paul Walter will be officiating, burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
