SHARON TOWNSHIP — A 16-year-old driver from Lexington suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 314 near Stine Road on Thursday morning, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at at 7:51 a.m., according to troopers.

The teenage driver was northbound on Ohio 314 in a 2010 Honda Civic, the patrol said. Gregory Ditmars, 62, of Shelby, was driving southbound in a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.

The juvenile driver lost control on a curve and went left of center, striking Ditmars, according to the patrol.

Ditmars suffered minor injuries. The juvenile driver was transported by Shelby EMS to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with serious injuries, troopers said. The OSHP didn’t identify the teenage driver.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the patrol.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by Shelby Fire and EMS, Ronks Towing and Auer Towing.
