PLYMOUTH — Autumn is set to be a busy time in Plymouth this year.

Councilwoman Susan Root Moore compiled several upcoming events and grouped them into a press release that she sent Tuesday.

“In the Village of Plymouth, the focus is on family fun during September and October, and we invite everyone to come and experience the festivities in our great little town,” the release said.

On Saturday, the community is invited to the grand opening of Plymouth’s new state-of-the-art fire station, located on Mary Fate Park Drive. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m., followed by an open house.

After that, everyone is encouraged to stop at the Plymouth Area Museum to view a special photography exhibit by Plymouth native Jerry Harrington. Hours for the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

While at the museum, folks are encouraged to browse its other offerings.

On Sept. 20, the Plymouth Improvement Committee will host its 11th annual Classic Car and Motorcycle Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Mary Fate Park.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the show will feature live music, food trucks, a bounce house for kids, and no shortage of vehicles. Dash plaques will go to the first 100 registrants and swag bags will be given to the first 50 vehicles.

Trophies and awards will be announced at 3 p.m. Admission is free to the public.

Tons to do in October

Plenty of fun will be offered throughout October, beginning with Autumn in the Village on Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s Plymouth’s annual celebration of all things autumn, including music by DJ Hook, 40 market stands, live demonstrations, hayrides and food trucks.

All of the action will be set up downtown on the Plymouth Square.

A special “Kids-Zone,” sponsored by Village Roots and Amanda Garcia of Keller-Williams Realty, will feature face painting, a bounce house, fall crafts and games. It will also include “Tent-or-Treat” stops — where vendors will hand out Halloween goodies.

Kids are invited to wear their Halloween costumes. Admission to the outdoor festival is free.

The Plymouth Area Museum will also host a tea event on October 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the museum’s community room. The event includes finger foods and dainties, along with a selection of teas, a short program, a raffle and other activities.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for girls ages 8 to 12. Seating is limited to 60 guests. Reservations can be made by calling Crystal Scott at 440-724-1948.

The Plymouth Volunteer Firefighter’s Association will host its annual “Nightmare in the Park” on Oct. 17 and 18 in Mary Fate Park. The spooky fun begins at 8 p.m. and runs until midnight on both nights.

October wraps up with Plymouth’s annual “Boo! On Broadway” event on Oct. 25.

Merchants will open their doors to trick-or-treaters and pass out candy and goodies from 5 to 7 p.m. on Plymouth Square. At 7 p.m., kids and adults are invited to participate in a Halloween parade, which will march from the square to American Legion Post #447 for the annual Halloween party and costume contest at 7:15 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.
