ERIE COUNTY — A 23-year-old motorcycle rider died Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash, according to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 8:58 P.M. on U.S. 6, near Ohio 61 in Berlin Township, troopers said.
The patrol said Cade Gwynn, 23, of Huron, was driving a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound on U.S. 6.
Andrew Rochleau, 23, of Elyria, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on U.S. 6 and failed to yield while turning left into a private driveway, troopers said.
The car and the motorcycle collided and Gwynn was thrown off of his motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.
Rochleau, who was wearing his safety belt, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges had been filed as of Monday morning.
The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
It was the fourth fatality reported by the patrol in Erie County on Sunday.
Three people died Sunday during two accidents on the Ohio Turnpike in Erie County, according to the Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The first crash occurred at approximately 6:41 a.m. and the second at about 7:34 a.m., east of the Frailey Road overpass, according to troopers.
A 34-year-old Wakeman woman died in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Erie County, according to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
