Shirley Faye Howard, 87, entered heaven on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at her residence in Crestline, after battling cancer.
Shirley was born in Little Creek Cawood, KY on May 23, 1938, to the late George and Maude (King) Stewart, Sr. She graduated from Hall High School, Class of 1956. She then married Staff Sergeant Purmer Howard on December 19, 1956. Together they traveled, living in many states with the Air Force. They then moved to Ohio with their three children.
Shirley worked at North Electric for 21 years, Jolly Pirate for 10 years and Citgo in Crestline for 4 years and then retired.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Janie (Mark) Russell; two grandchildren, Joshua Petersen and Heather (Jayson) Stover; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Stover and Noah Stover, sister-in-law, Sally Howard, brother-in-law, Carlos Howard and wife, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Michael Howard, daughter, Melinda Howard, brothers, Bob (Pat) Stewart, Billy (Donna) Stewart, Earl (Rena Lou) Stewart, Paris (Charlotte) Stewart, George Stewart, Jr., Joe Howard, Doug (Cleda) Howard, Bill Howard, sisters, Ila (Delbert) Bray and Shirley Vanover Howard.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gompf Funeral Service – Crestline Chapel, 223 West Main St., Crestline. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Gompf Funeral Service – Crestline Chapel with Pastor Doug Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 1119 State Route 181, Crestline, Ohio.
