MANSFIELD — A youngster smiled shyly as her photo was taken with her animal. A horse stood calmly during a bath. Swine settled into shavings as fans quietly provided cooling air.

It was early Sunday afternoon at the 175th Richland County Fair.

The 2025 version of the week-long celebration of agriculture at the 750 N. Home Road fairgrounds on the city’s north side was underway.

Deep blue skies and pleasant temperatures greeted those arriving even before the opening ceremonies and flag raising at 3 p.m. The fairway rides for the kids had not yet opened, but the midway was open and fair food offerings were plentiful.

The barns were filled with animals of every variety and judging was ready to begin.

The Richland County Fair runs through Saturday evening, a week capped by the traditional demolition derby in front of the main grandstand.
