The Richland County Port Authority conducts its first meeting in June at the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development offices at 55 N. Mulberry St. in Mansfield.

MANSFIELD — The Richland County Port Authority board of directors will meet Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the Richland Area Chamber & Economic Development offices, 55 N. Mulberry St.

The meetings are open to the public.

According to a press release, the board will consider resolutions:

— authorizing an administrative services agreement with the Richland Community Development Group.

— authorizing lease-leaseback transactions for potential industrial development projects in the City of Mansfield and the City of Ontario.

The board may also consider any other business as “may properly come before the Board of Directors,” according to the release.

The newly-formed, five-member port authority board had its first meeting June 18, selecting its leadership team:

— Mark Masters, president and CEO of Mechanics Bank, was selected board chair.

— David Eichinger, senior vice president and senior consultant at The Eichinger-Brafford-McClead Group, was picked to be vice chair.

— Randa Payne, general counsel at Adena Corporation, was selected board secretary, a role that includes the work of the group’s fiscal officer.

Other board members, all of whom were to four-year terms, are DeLee Powell, president of Baker’s Collision, and Mansfield resident John Olivieri, executive director of the County Engineers Association of Ohio.

During the initial meeting, Columbus attorney Gregory Daniels explained to the new five-member board how a port authority operates and how it can benefit local development efforts.

He said such entities are designed to spur the kind of public-private partnerships that can attract new business, help in the expansion of current companies and improve the climate for housing developments, among other things.
