SHELBY — This year’s Shelby Bicycle Days festival will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Shelby Cycle Company.

According to Shelby historian Christina Drain, the Shelby Cycle Frame Builders was formed in 1921 by A. D. Meiselbach of Chicago. Four years later, the company name was changed to Shelby Cycle Company and began assembling complete bicycles.

In January 1927, the company displayed its newest creation, the Whippet, at a trade show in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, according to Drain.

Among many staple offerings, this year’s festival will feature several special events, honoring the Shelby Cycle Company’s 100th anniversary, through a partnership with the Shelby Cycle Historical Society.

Shelby Bicycle Days is a project of the Community Improvement Corporation of Shelby and is presented by OhioHealth. Several other local businesses and organizations are sponsors of the event.

Whether you’re someone planning your schedule for the festival in advance or you’re just curious to know what’s in store for Shelby Bicycle Days 2025, this guide is for you.
