Rain, rain, go away: Shelby Bicycle Days parade stays dry after brief delay

A flash rain shower caused a brief delay in the start of the 2025 Shelby Bicycle Days parade — which boasted more than 75 entries this year.

Ten-year-old Yvonne Brumback won Shelby Cycle Company’s “Name-a-bike” contest in 1935. Her winning submission remains unknown to this day.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Shelby Cycle Company, established in 1925 — the year it began producing complete bicycles.

This year’s Shelby Bicycle Days festival, which runs July 11-12, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Shelby Cycle Company.

The annual homemade pie auction will take place Saturday in the Black Fork Commons pavilion following the Shelby Bicycle Days parade at 2 p.m.

Shelby is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Shelby Cycle Company with a weekend full of bikes, history and hometown pride.
