SHELBY — Sweltering temperatures on Saturday were not enough to keep avid car enthusiasts from flocking to downtown Shelby.

This year’s Shelby Car Show and Cruise In ran through the heart of the city, beginning at the intersection of South Gamble and East Main streets and spanning to the intersection of East Main and Mansfield Avenue.

Spectators browsed vehicles parked along both sides of East Main and could also enjoy a variety of food and drink vendors located around the Black Fork Commons Plaza. Several events and activities for children and a craft show were also offered around the commons area.

The show ran from 1 to 4 p.m. and also featured a parade for any cars or motorcycles wishing to participate in driving by local nursing homes — taking a piece of the show directly to residents of those facilities.
