Evelyn Jeanett Johnson, 76, of Galion, passed away peacefully at her home with her family and friends by her side on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Evelyn was born in Weeksbury, KY, on March 9, 1949, to the late parents Willie and Ramie (Isaac) Bates.
She married the love of her life, Charles Johnson, on May 24, 1966. They were just four days shy of 50 years together when Charles preceded her in death.
Evelyn was a member of the Unity Freewill Baptist Church in Galion. Evelyn loved her family, and her world revolved around them. She was known for her feisty attitude, her humor, and her ability to never meet a stranger. Evelyn enjoyed having “Girls Day” with her daughter and granddaughter. Her family has many memories of her laughter and never a dull moment when in her presence.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Lisa (fiancé Bud Porter) Johnson, grandchildren, Mary Alysha (fiancé Christopher Edgington) Johnson, Colt (Maddie) Johnson, Remington Johnson, great-grandchild, Kenzley Edgington, and siblings, Clyde (Rosie), of Galion, Patricia (Leck), of Columbus, Rhonda (Lloyd), of Galion, Jackie (Beth), of Galion, and Ray (Kathy) of Kentucky.
Along with her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by siblings: Tennis, Lester, Chester, Cleo, Annaline, Mable, Jean, and Junior.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gompf Funeral Service-Galion Chapel, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Services will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 11:00 am, also at Gompf Funeral Service-Galion Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Dapper Cemetery.
