MANSFIELD — International artist Andre Miripolsky was born in Paris, but his reputation is worldwide.

On Thursday afternoon, he brought his unique talent to downtown Mansfield to unveil his newest collection at Hudson & Essex.

Urban Ocean: Sharks in Motion is composed of 10 skateboard decks featuring various shark species surrounded by brilliant colors and capped off with his signature squiggles.

Miripolsky stated that he has been wanting to work with skateboards for decades and was so excited when the opportunity to partner with Skate Ohio arose during the fall of 2024.

Miripolsky spent five weeks painting the 10 boards and Thursday evening was the first time the boards were seen by the public.

The Los Angeles resident mentioned that he has never been more east than Chicago but has quickly become enthralled with Mansfield and the potential for an art revival in the city.

“Andre is so energized about Mansfield and sees the revival happening and wants to be a part of that,” BJ Price said.

Price, a Co-Founder of Skate Ohio said that this collaboration has been an amazing experience for both parties.

Miripolsky hopes this collection is the key to unlocking the world of potential in Mansfield’s art scene.

“Mansfield is Art.” Miripolsky said.

Seven of the skateboards are being raffled off and all proceeds will go towards Skate Ohio, while the remaining three boards are being kept for historical purposes.
