Board president Chris Elswick and vice president Linda Golden preside over a meeting of the Mansfield City Schools board of education.

MANSFIELD — The Mansfield City Schools board of education voted Tuesday to bring back two employees whose contracts were suspended last month, using service contracts with the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center.

The board approved a total of three contracts through July 31, the end of the district’s fiscal year.

They include:

  • A contract with Tawny Rodriguez, who will serve as an administrative support specialist effective April 9 at a cost not to exceed $35,582.80.
  • A contract with Kevin Uhde, who will provide student support services effective April 9 at a cost not to exceed $27,299.76.
  • A contract with an unnamed board certified behavioral analyst for services, retroactive to March 1. The contract allows for the behavioral analyst to be paid $103 hourly on an as-needed basis, not to exceed $6,000.

Supt. Stan Jefferson said the NCOESC has provided the name of the behavioral analyst who will be working with the district.

The school board voted last month to abolish nine administrative positions effective March 31 in an effort to cut costs.

Impacted employees included Uhde, Rodriguez and board certified behavioral analyst Dahni Reynolds.

“As we’re doing this process, there is things that are going to change. We got to figure out what we need as we go. Stan (Jefferson) decided he needed some help with administrative stuff,” board president Chris Elswick said.

“We’ll re-evaluate it at the end of the year and into the summer to see what we need for next year.”

Jefferson said the contracts are part of a restructuring of the district’s central administrative offices and put the district in a better place to finish out the operations of the school year.

In December, the Mansfield City Schools board of education voted 3-2 to end its contract with the Mid Ohio Educational Service Center at the end of the school year.

The board simultaneously voted to enter a two-year contract with the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years.
