Kathryn “Midget” Ann Canada, 83, of Mansfield passed peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Kathryn was born on April 12, 1941, in Crestline, to the late John and Phylis (James) Brown, Sr.

Kathryn was a proud graduate of Crestline High School, Class of 1959. She dedicated many years of her life working at Pepsi Co. in Mansfield, where she remained until her retirement in 2003.

Known for her outspoken nature, Kathryn was never one to shy away from speaking her mind. Yet behind her bold spirit was a heart of gold—she was a friend to all and beloved by many.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: a good movie, great music, and the warmth of her family. Whether it was a classic western, a spine-tingling horror flick, or an imaginative science fiction film, Kathryn was always ready for a good story. She also had a deep appreciation for music, especially the smooth, soulful voice of Al Green, whose songs often filled the space around her with feeling and nostalgia.

More than anything, Kathryn cherished time spent with her family. Her favorite moments were at family cookouts, where laughter echoed, love was abundant, and the smell of good food lingered in the air.

Left to cherish Kathryn’s memories are her son: Maurice (Rena Pitts-Canada) Canada, Jr. of Mansfield; grandchildren: Marquis (Fiancé Nicole Glasner) of Lexington, Jerome (Melissa) Canada of Ontario, Nikita Carter of Ontario, and Martell Wright of Marion; granddaughter-in-law: Rowan Fortner; and 9 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her siblings: Jeannette Walker, Wayne “Dickie” Brown, Sr., Gates Brown, John Brown, Jr., and Elaine Floyd.

Friends may call on Monday, April 14th, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am at First Baptist Church; 212 E. Livingston Ave. Crestline. The funeral service will begin immediately at 11:00am with Pastor Frank Bolden officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
