MANSFIELD — The 4th-8th grade academic challenge teams competed in their second tournament of the season this month.

We want to congratulate all competitors, but especially our winners for each tournament.

March 12th Results (4th Grade):
4th-grade teams: Colonel Crawford A & B; Crestview A, B & C; Discovery; Lexington A & B; Mansfield Spanish Immersion A & B; Northmor A & B; Ontario A & B; Plymouth-Shiloh; Sacred Heart; St. Peter’s; Shelby; Wooster A, B & C and Wynford A, B & C

Wooster B took first place with a score of 119, narrowly beating Wooster A who scored 112. Wooster B is made up of Andrew Jeon, Davey Michel, Auggie Mealey, Seton Holmes and Jaxson Walter while Wooster A includes Aayu Goudar, Tommy Carpenter, Kenzo Griffin, Ava Utt and Oliver Armstrong.

March 13th Results (5th Grade):

Wooster A & B tied for first place with a score of 105. Wooster A includes Katie Bradham. Asher Dewald, Charlie Fishburn, Talon Gaines and Zoey Thompson. Wooster B is made up of Ethan Conrad, Ella Parthmore, Harrison Snodgrass, Alec and Cora Feierabend.

March 19th Results (6th Grade):

Lexington A squeaked by Wooster D and Ontario with 111 points to their 109. It all came down to the last match of the evening. Lexington A is made of Quinn G., Ben M., Gracie C. and Ina G. Wooster D includes Simon Kline, Bryson Doretich, Harrison Snodgrass, Benny Maibach, Gwen Vizzo, Hannah Abbott and Ian Webb. Ontario included Albany Hacker, Samantha Hamilton, Isaac Hohman, Riya Sasikumar and Emelyn Truax.

March 18th Results (7th/8th Grade):

Lexington A took first place with a score of 109 just beating out Mansfield Christian A who had 99 points. Lexington A includes Carter G., Axl L., Coulter S., Jesse S., and Noah T. Mansfield Christian A includes Travis Byrom, Carter Mutchler,
Austin Scholl and Paul Harriger. 

March 13th Results (High School):
The High School Winter Tournament was in person. Coaches and students alike were appreciative, and the energy level was high as students participated. The tournament ran very smoothly, and we congratulate all teams along with our winners!


Varsity Bracket A teams: Ashland A, Clear Fork, Highland, Loudonville A, Mapleton and Mt. Gilead Varsity Bracket B teams: Ashland B,  Crestview, Hillsdale, Loudonville B, Plymouth-Shiloh and Shelby JV Bracket A: Ashland A, Crestview A, Highland A, Loudonville A, Mapleton A and Mt. Gilead JV Bracket B: Ashland B & C, Crestview B, Highland B, Loudonville B and Mapleton B

The final round consisted of the top team from each opposing bracket. For varsity, Ashland A defeated Shelby by a score of 48-34. Ashland A is made up of Logan Frazer, Jaden Backensto, Scarlett Wilhelm, Micah Mauriocourt and Erica Cao. Shelby includes Eason Gao, Dawson Gove and Jackson McClain. 

For JV, Highland A defeated Highland B with a score of 45-30. Highland A includes Zane Granger, Handrick Karya, Bailey Moreland, Drennyn Mooty and Josh Van Horne. Highland B is made up of Mehraneh Matin, Malin Fichtner, Kieran Taylor, Mason Johnson, Hayden Brooks and Eneas Peren Chu.

For varsity, Lexington defeated Mansfield Christian’s A team with a score of 48-39. Lexington is made up of Team Captain Alex T., Ben W., Ari C., Natalie L. and Addie S. Mansfield Christian A includes Grady Heichel, Christian Mallery, Sarah Williams, Caleb Ricker, Adam Ebersole, Jeiel Phillips, Isaac Delp, Gavin Webb and Riley Rasberry.


For JV, Mt. Vernon A defeated Madison 50-32. Mt. Vernon A’s team includes Nathan Hofferberth, Evan Guillory, Jonathan Green and Wyatt Zeiner. Madison is comprised of Sydney Hazelwood, Lilie Baker, Santanna Hoffman, Chris Lucas, Phil Wiggins and Gracie Schaade.


High School Winter League:
The High School Academic Challenge Winter League was run virtually on Feb 10, 14 and March 3. Things went very smoothly. Congratulations to our winners for the various brackets!

Ashland A won the JV bracket. The team consists of Maddie Little, Samantha Mauriocourt, Alex Knoc, Kaley Stoffer, Laney Zimmerman, Kira Zimmerman and Leo Mancha.

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center provides specialized academic and support services to 13 school districts and over 20,000 students in Crawford, Morrow and Richland Counties.

Client districts receive services from curriculum, gifted and special education consultants, speech pathologists, psychologists, special education teachers, occupational therapists and
physical therapists.
